How to Add an Email Account to an iPhone or iPad

Add Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Exchange, or another mail account.

Open Settings and use the Mail account settings to add an account, then sign in with the provider.

Step by Step

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Mail settings; on newer versions this may be under Apps → Mail.
  3. Open Mail Accounts or Accounts.
  4. Choose Add Account.
  5. Select the provider or Other.
  6. Sign in and approve the requested account services.
  7. Open Mail and confirm messages appear.

If That Doesn't Work

  • Work accounts may require organization-specific settings.
  • Do not guess manual server settings; obtain them from the email provider.
