TTL means Time To Live and tells resolvers how long they may cache a DNS record before asking again.
Step by Step
- Open the DNS record at your DNS provider.
- Find the TTL value.
- Remember that lower TTLs can allow changes to be noticed sooner after caches expire.
- Use the provider's default unless you have a reason to change it.
If That Doesn't Work
- Lower TTL does not make an already-cached record expire immediately.
- Extremely low TTL values can increase DNS query volume.
