- Identify the modem and router. Some homes use one combined gateway.
- Unplug their power cables. Do not press a Reset button.
- Wait about 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the modem or gateway first.
- Wait for its normal internet/online lights to stabilize.
- If you have a separate router, reconnect its power and wait for Wi-Fi to return.
- Test the connection.
If That Doesn't Work
- Restart and factory reset are very different. A factory reset can erase Wi-Fi names, passwords, and provider settings.
- If the internet light never returns, check for a provider outage or contact the provider.
